You know the debate that always follows after watching a movie based on a book. Some say the book was better; others say the movie was better. No matter what stance you take though, the fact is we all flock to see the story played out through film. Visuals play a powerful part in our culture’s art of storytelling.

As public relations professionals, we are called to be good storytellers, and if you are a young professional looking to learn more about the art of video storytelling, you will not want to miss the Video Storytelling workshop hosted by the SIUE Chapter of PRSSA on Friday, March 22.

Ryan Hanlon from Gebbs, a self-described “fun band of filmmakers,” will share how our own life experiences help us to tell better stories, connect with people and ultimately, make us more appealing to employers and the world around us.

However, this workshop is not just for public relations students. Whether you are a speech communication, mass communications, marketing, business or English  major, as a current college student or a young professional in any industry, your goal is to be successful in your chosen profession. Hanlon’s advice will help you to think strategically, combining your skills and passion for whatever you do, to achieve professional success.

So, make  plans now to attend. The workshop will be in the Maple Room located on second floor of the Morris University Center, beginning at 10 a.m. The workshop is free for PRSSA members and only $5 at the door for all others who want to take advantage of this dynamic professional development opportunity.

In the meantime, pull up a chair…and tell me your story!

This guy…this company…they “get it!” Definitely want to bring Ryan and maybe the whole Gebbs team back next year. They have so much to share with our young professionals.
