Valentine’s Day 2016 is history. Did you get the traditional flowers or chocolates? Our family is currently in the “get fit for the wedding” mode, so I decided to forego the usual theme-baking and opted to share a healthier gift: a fresh salad in a cute heart-shaped bowl! That big, red heart-shaped box of chocolate truffles has nothing on a colorful tossed salad complete with heart-shaped tomatoes, cucumbers and radishes! No? Not buying it? Not sure my family did either. **sigh**
What sparks your gift-giving creativity? Courtney Moed, an associate account executive at Springboard PR, shared her “Valentine’s Day Gift Guide for the Creative Type.” For all you current and up-and-coming PR pros, this might be a fun list to share with your significant others for future reference.
Something else that might spark your creativity is a chance to win a trip to New York City and $1,500 cash! That’s what’s up for grabs for PR students who put their creative videography skills to work and enter the Take Flight with PR Student Video Contest.
Video continues to grow as a way of telling a brand’s story. Does anyone remember this fun Coca-Cola Valentine video from a few years ago?
This video definitely communicated Coca-Cola’s happiness brand. However, this year’s Take Flight with PR video contest challenges students to address the darker side of technology as it looks at some of the problems society is facing with the ever-increasing use of technology. Students are to create a short video that highlights one of the following technology issues: online privacy, cyberbullying or digital distraction.
Students can enter the contest as an individual or in teams of up to three, but brainstorming probably needs to begin now. The deadline for submissions is May 20, with online voting taking place May 13-20. See link for more information about the contest.
In the meantime, hope you had a happy Valentine’s Day and are ready to come down off your sugar high and get back to work…it’s Monday morning!
