We’ve been talking a lot about the impact of video storytelling this semester. PRSSA has been promoting the HoneyBuzz video contest; Craig Workman, The Workman Company, will share information about how he used video to tell a local non-profit organization’s story at the March 13 PRSSA meeting; and then on Friday, March 22, Gebbs, a local video production company will be on campus for a special video storytelling workshop for PRSSA members.
Now, graduating seniors have a unique opportunity to put their video storytelling skills to the test. Affect, a PR and social media agency in New York City, has announced a new competition to find their next employee called The New York Job Project. In the past, this agency has hosted internship contests, but this year, one lucky winner will receive a salaried full-time position and a $1,500 moving stipend to kick off a new career in NYC!
Here’s how it works:
- Recent graduates dreaming of a career in public relations and social media will submit a creative video or photo entry to the contest web site on why they would make the ideal employee. To see sample videos from last year’s contest, visit The New York Intern Project 2012.
- Entrants need to get their network to vote! The top six semi-finalists will be selected via public voting on the contest website and will be interviewed via Skype for a spot in the finals
- The top three finalists from the Skype interview round will be flown to New York (with all expenses paid!) to meet the Affect team and have an in-person interview with our celebrity judges
- After the finalists wow the judges, the lucky winner of the New York Job Project will be announced at the beginning of May
Qualified students interested in applying for this unique job opportunity can find all contest rules at The New York Job Project. So, be sure to take advantage of all the video opportunities coming up through PRSSA, and then put those skills to work…and you just might be going to work in New York City!
In the meantime, pull up a chair and let’s talk.
