About the Lewis & Clark Council:
The Lewis & Clark Council is one of the 50 largest Boy Scout Councils in America serving
fifteen Southwest Illinois counties and nearly 23,000 youth and families.
The young men and women of Scouting, Exploring, Venturing and Learning for Life are better

The Special Events and PR Intern should be energetic, enthusiastic, organized and possess
excellent verbal and written communication skills. The Special Events and PR Intern will
support the Marketing Department consisting of the VP of Marketing, Director of Marketing &
Development and Associate Marketing & Development Director.
Responsibilities- Special Events & PR
· Contact vendors as needed to move event logistics forward
· Work with committees and/or key volunteers to move crew tasks forward
· Expected attend a few planning committee meetings
· Organize & purchase supplies for events as needed
· Help to establish logistics for the event as needed
Responsibilities- Special Events & PR
· Produce media alerts & press releases
· Assist with recruitment/ fundraising email blasts
· Assist staff in developing media relations
Skills Needed:
· Detail oriented
· Creative, some graphic design experience helpful
· Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Publisher
· Great written and verbal communication skills
· Knowledge of Adobe InDesign & Photoshop
Must be currently enrolled at accredited University during the upcoming Fall 2011 semester.
Time Commitment & Compensation: Minimum 10-15 hours a week unpaid internship. Most
work to be completed at service center located at 335 W. Main Street, Belleville, IL though some
remote and field work will occur.
