The impact social media have on our professional careers was once again a topic of discussion in class this past week. This is always a timely topic as there seems to be a never-ending supply of examples – both positive and negative.
This past week we discussed a negative situation regarding a young professional’s tweet that cost him his job. As always, there were varying opinions on the topic, and that made for good discussion.
Depending on the blogs you read or other industry news you follow, I am sure you have come across a lot of advice regarding your online presence. I am sure this will also be a topic of discussion from one or more of the PR professionals during the panels we are hosting at the end of the semester.
I came across the following presentation by Barbara Nixon on Slideshare. Check it out and see what you think … it’s food for thought for young professionals about to embark on the internship or job search journey. I look forward to hearing from our soon-to-be graduates and how they used social media to get their first job!
In the meantime, pull up a chair and let’s talk.
